About

Founded in 2018, Sooty’s Sanctuary Animal Rescue is a group of concerned citizens, volunteers, and fosters, dedicated to giving a better life to the countless homeless pets, and petless homes. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers, so every cent donated goes towards the animals and our continued operations, not into the pocket of employees, or board members.

How is Sooty’s different?

Unlike some rescues, we do not discriminate. We will take pretty much any animal we have space for. The usual pets (dogs & cats), as well as rodents (rats & the like), exotics (ferrets, sugar gliders, and etc), and even farm animals. We think there is a loving home for them all, where they will not be mistreated, or abused, and will do everything we can to find it! If we don’t have space, funds, or otherwise the ability to take a certain animal, we are happy to refer you to one (or more) rescue groups that might be able to help.

At Sooty’s we do everything we can to find the best pet for each home. We do this through a vigorous interview, application, and review process that is finished off with a home visit to ensure the pet transitions as best as is possible. Our Adoption Counselors provide personal contact information, where adopters can reach us any time with questions, or concerns that they may have with their new family member. We not only want to adopt the pet out, but make sure that they are able to stay in their forever home by providing tools and advise on how to correct any problems that an adopter may encounter.

Re-Homing Help

We are flexible and happy to help individuals who are looking for assistance in responsibly re-homing their current pet. We can help by sharing posts (courtesy posting), using our application / review process on your behalf, and even helping to facilitate home visits with you, so you don’t have to go it alone. We can provide further information for other resources in our community that may be available as well. We are happy to help you however we can to make sure animals stay out of shelters and in loving homes.
